We always try to explain things in plain English and do not bombard you with legal jargon. Please arrange a meeting to get specific advice for your specific situation.
Please avoid the "instant" on line wills, which although seemingly better than nothing at first glance, can lead to all sorts of complications later.
Freedom Wills makes the complicated legal process transparent and easy for you, whilst remaining competitive on price, but, like everything in life, you do get what you pay for.
Some sobering thoughts:
When there is no will, the government decides who gets what from the sale of your assets. Generally the spouse or civil partner is first in line but won't necessarily get everything, next in the queue are children or grandchildren, parents, siblings or their children, half-siblings or their children, grandparents, uncles and aunts (or their children) and finally half uncles and aunts (or their children).
Clearly with no will your estate (or a part of it) may not go where you want it to, and may indeed go exactly where you don't want it to go. If there are no relatives the Crown generally gets the lot.
You can appoint someone to look after your kids in the event of your demise - otherwise Social Services may step in and intervene.
There are many different types of wills and having the wrong type could have serious consequences on how your estate is divided and its value.
And the tax man? Well, simply put, paying a few hundred pounds now could save you tens of thousands later e.g. you'll pay 40% inheritance tax on anything OVER £325,000 but with a will (leaving everything you own to a husband, wife or civil partner) you typically set that bar to a much higher £650,000 before you pay tax.
Using Freedom Wills avoids making a mistake. Making a mistake in a will can make it invalid. There are many potential mistakes, all of which we avoid.
Did you know that marriage cancels out any previous will? Divorce can have a similar effect.
Unmarried couples who do not have a will risk the situation where the surviving partner stands to inherit nothing!
What about digital legacy? (On line bank accounts and social media that need s to be deactivated etc).
